Manual Machinist

We are searching for a Manual Machinist, who preferably has at least a 2 year degree in Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology or 2-5 years of On the Job Experience in machining, to work in our Fabrication & Machine shop in Columbus, MS.

This position will be setting up, adjusting, and operating machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to make or rework metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions. 

Essential Job Functions

• Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
• Using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Positions materials by using an overhead crane.
• May perform simple cleaning maintenance operations.
• Reports abnormal conditions of equipment to supervision.
• Observes all Safety rules and regulations and keeps the work area clean and orderly.
• May be required to also operate the metal band saw to cut steel for parts.
• Mechanically inclined and very reliable.
• Willingness and ability to work any shift and overtime when required.
• Must pass pre‐employment physical, safety training, background and drug and alcohol screen. Please be aware that Glenn has a comprehensive drug policy, which includes random testing.
• Must have dependable transportation. 

Experience/Certification

At least a 2 year degree in Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology, or 2-5 years of On the Job Experience in machining preferred.
